The One Where We're Heroes
- Tarnis heads into the front room in the hull and finds 20 slaves shackled together
- We're all like "oh no...."
- Tarnis and Reya quickly discuss a plan to try to land the ship in the large forest beside El Turel
- Brek runs up to man the wheel because he's the only one that knows his left and rights
- Whill and Ezra head down to help Anise stabilize the engine
- One of the ships that are flanking us fired ballistas at those on the deck - one hits Brek but Ezra pushes him out of the way and takes a harpoon to the chest.
- Ezra is hurt pretty bad.
- Whill and Anise discuss the engine and what the fuck they are supposed to do
- Whill's dracolich arm starts to itch now that they are getting closer to El Turel, one of the holiest cities in the world
- Whill and Anise realize if they burn spell slots against magic items in their possessions, it'll draw some of the instability magic from the ruby elemental engine thing and stabilize.
- Anise sends Giant Eagle Tylendel to get Zema so that he can help cast spells on things
- Anise speaks Giant Eagle, so her and Tylendel have a sustained and very intellectual exchange of caw-caws
- Anise and Whill start burning scrolls and spell slots
- Tuzzles flies up to the deck to grab Zema, tells his griffon Zemo to carry him down to the lower deck and not take no for an answer
- Tuzzles flies over to the ship firing ballistas and crits his dex save and dodges all the arrows and is able to successfully disarm one of the ballistas
- Tuzzles unleashes a torrential downpour of eagle feces on someone on the deck of that other ship
- Anise and Whill catch Zema up on what needs to be done
- Narik asks Balasar to operate a ballista and he hits the other ballista on the other ship
- Ezra casts Mass Cure Wounds to heal those on the deck
- Brek nosedives the ship to bring it down as fast as possible
- The slaves in the front hull scream as they start sliding out the front
- Anise and Whill pass their saves to a) hold concentration on their spells and b) not drop the magic items they need for the spells
- Brek realizes he won't crash the ship before the city, so pulls up instead
- Tarnis is still trying to free the slaves from their shackles, starts helping them up to the upper deck
- Other ship starts moving toward us to side swipe us, Brek turns into them and now both of our ships are kinda stuck together.
- Balasar's ballista is now nose to nose with the other ship's, however they just fired and Balasar just finished reloading. Balasar destroys their ballista.
- The impact causes everyone in the hull to have to take dex saves to avoid falling out the hole. Party saves, but a few commoners fall out. Anise's griffon catches a pair, but Whill's griffon gives no fucks and lets them plummet
- Brek barrel rolls us away from the other ship
- Balasar shoots the ballista and hits the ballista operator on the other ship
- Tylendel unshapeshifts on the deck and throws his rope down the hole to the bottom deck and starts helping the slaves up to the top of the deck
- Ezra tries to hide them into the captain's quarters but Tylendel argues and tells him to line them up along the rope and tells the slaves to hang on to their rope like their lives depend on it, because they very literally do
- Ezra reluctantly agrees
- This giant glowing ball over El Turel shoots a laser beam and explodes one of the bad ships out of the sky
- Whill and Zema help Tarnis free the rest of the slaves from their shackles
- Anise is starting to buckle so Whill and Zema get ready to jump in when needed
- Reya goes over to Brek and flashes him her sexy shoulder and whispers sweet nothings in his ear.
- Narik casts mass cure wounds and a bunch of people get super healed
- Brek floors it and pulls up, straining the engine and causing Anise to lose he concentration.
- Whill jumps in to cast his spells and take over
- Rest of the slaves make it up to the top deck
- Ball of laser beam shoots again and explodes the ship beside us, but the explosion deafens us
- Reya yells "BRACE YOURSELF" as we approach the ground
- Tylendel signals the slaves to hold the rope and casts Rope Trick on it, which lifts the rope and opens into a pocket dimension able to hold 8 people.
- Tylendel pulls the weakest 7 people into the pocket dimension and the strongest slaves have to hold on to the rope which is just floating in mid-air now
- The ship barely misses the city and crashes
- Everyone inside the lower deck of the ship takes bludgeoning damage
- Everyone on the top deck takes more damage
- We are more less landed just outside El Torel. The ship scraped a guard tower as it crashed.
- Brek tries to go into town but a line of cavalry tells him to stay with the ship until they sort this out
- Tylendel whistles for Nuzzles to come up and two by two fly the slaves down to safety. Over a bit of time all of them are flown to the ground in a group outside the city, Tylendel included.
- Reya is all "I'm Reya Mantlemourn!" and they inspect her. We notice her armor is the same as all of the cavalry. She talks cop to them.
- We get hugged by a bunch of commoners and they are super happy about what we've done to save the slaves and keep the ship from crashing into El Torel.
- Priests come out and heal all of us to max health, revive Narik
- Reya says we should go to a "Pair of Black Antlers" inn/tavern that we'd fit right in with and might be able to stay for free. This is the most famous tavern in all of Faerun - owned and run by and made for adventurers.
- Commoners pick us up and carry us into the city chanting Heroes! Heroes! Heroes!
